My Story
I didn't start my sewing journey with a love for it. In fact, for a long time, sewing machines intimidated me. They seemed too complex, and after a failed attempt in high school, I tucked that dream away. I went on to college to study fashion merchandising, and I was grateful that my path didn't require me to touch a sewing machine.
Everything changed during my senior year of college. I attended a Sewing 101 class and decided to face my fear head-on. I brought my mom's old machine, and with a few simple projects, I finally connected with the craft. I saw how you could transform a piece of fabric into something new.
After graduating, my full-time job left me craving a creative outlet that didn't involve a screen. I needed a hands-on hobby. I found a local 8 week sewing class, which was the turning point for me. I learned all the basics from different stitches to how to read a pattern. That class unlocked a new passion, and I discovered the joy of creating with my own hands. That's where my real love for sewing began, and I've been dedicated to this craft ever since.
I have now been sewing for a few years and running Meggie Sews. It has been so fun perfecting my sewing skills and trying new things. I am so proud to see how far I've come in my sewing journey and how much more I will improve in the years to come.
